Orthotic Allowance  Private Health Insurers

At this time of year, you might be thinking about replacing your worn orthotics or getting hold of a handy second pair.  If you want to make the most of your orthotic allowance private health insurance, the following information may be of use.

Some good reasons to have a second pair of orthotics in Brisbane include:

• Making use of a more cushioned pair for shorts shoes
• Having a spare pair to leave at work or at your weekend home

If we ‘copy’ an existing orthotic device,  we charge a flat, low fee of $ 380 to $400.  Often this is fully covered by private health insurers. We can reproduce orthotics that we have made very simply as we keep the CAD CAM files indefinitely.  Even orthotics made by other clinics can be copied.  We make use of 3D scanning technology to capture the data in your existing devices.

As well as reproducing what you already have, we have the capability to make changes to the orthotic devices.  This might mean minor adjustments or some other types of ‘enhancements’ where we can change a device that has scope for improvement.  Examples of this might be to make the device firmer for more support or softer to improve comfort.

If major changes need to be made, your podiatrist will talk you through the options.  It may be more beneficial to start again, particularly while we are offering our Gap Free Orthotic service.

At the moment, good availability exists across all of our clinics.  We are open through to Christmas Eve.  As with most things, it would be wisest to plan ahead and start the process now.

Appointments in January will not be able to access the current year’s Health Insurance allowances, and they will be gone for good.
