Podiatry Appointments do not need a doctor’s referral
Generally, no you do not need a doctor’s referral to see a podiatrist in Australia.Only those who receive a subsidy from the Federal Government such as users of a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care plan or a holder of a gold Veteran’s Affairs card require a referral. Private medical insurers such as MBF, Medibank and others do not require a referral to pay out on podiatry services. Likewise, those who pay for their own health services can attend a podiatrist without referral. If you are entitled to be referred for treatment under Work Cover or as a result of a legal proceeding, the initial contact will usually be made between your case manager and our clinic.
